How Complex Is the Strong Admissibility Semantics for Abstract Dialectical Frameworks?

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract dialectical frameworks (ADFs) have been introduced as a formalism for modeling and evaluating argumentation allowing general logical satisfaction conditions. Different criteria used to settle the acceptance of arguments are called semantics. Semantics ADFs so far mainly defined based on concept admissibility. Recently, notion strong admissibility has ADFs. In current work we study computational complexity following reasoning tasks under We address 1. credulous/skeptical decision problem; 2. verification 3. justification 4. problem finding smallest witness queried argument.

Extension-Based Semantics of Abstract Dialectical Frameworks

One of the most common tools in abstract argumentation are the argumentation frameworks and their associated semantics. While the framework is used to represent a given problem, the semantics define methods of solving it, i.e. they describe requirements for accepting and rejecting arguments. The basic available structure is the Dung framework, AF for short. It is accompanied by a variety of sem...

Realizability of Three-Valued Semantics for Abstract Dialectical Frameworks

We investigate fundamental properties of threevalued semantics for abstract dialectical frameworks (ADFs). In particular, we deal with realizability, i.e., the question whether there exists an ADF that has a given set of interpretations as its semantics. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions that hold for a set of three-valued interpretations whenever there is an ADF realizing it under...

Expressiveness of Two-Valued Semantics for Abstract Dialectical Frameworks

We analyse the expressiveness of Brewka and Woltran’s abstract dialectical frameworks for two-valued semantics. By expressiveness we mean the ability to encode a desired set of two-valued interpretations over a given propositional vocabulary A using only atoms from A. We also compare ADFs’ expressiveness with that of (the two-valued semantics of) abstract argumentation frameworks, normal logic ...

Approximating operators and semantics for abstract dialectical frameworks

We provide a systematic in-depth study of the semantics of abstract dialectical frameworks (ADFs), a recent generalisation of Dung’s abstract argumentation frameworks. This is done by associating with an ADF its characteristic one-step consequence operator and defining various semantics for ADFs as different fixpoints of this operator. We first show that several existing semantical notions are ...

Relating the Semantics of Abstract Dialectical Frameworks and Standard AFs

One criticism often advanced against abstract argumentation frameworks (AFs), is that these consider only one form of interaction between atomic arguments: specifically that an argument attacks another. Attempts to broaden the class of relationships include bipolar frameworks, where arguments support others, and abstract dialectical frameworks (ADFs). The latter, allow “acceptance” of an argume...
